The Raft of the Medusa inspired a Pulitzer Prize-winning photograph

Photographer Sergey Ponomarev won the Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News Photography in 2016. He was rewarded for a shot immortalizing a migrant boat near the shores of the island of Lesbos. The composition of this image immediately recalls the famous painting by Théodore Géricault.
