The official recognition of Haitian Creole
Haitian Creole is a language spoken by almost all the inhabitants of Haiti as their mother tongue. The 1987 Constitution provided for the creation of an institution dedicated to its scientific development, but this project was realized through a law of parliament in 2013 bearing the name of Academy of the Haitian Creole. Although French has remained the administrative language since the Act of Independence of 1804, forty percent of the population masters it thanks to their schooling and the media.
