Yellowstone wolves are all Canadian

Yellowstone National Park saw its last wolves disappear in the 1926s following eradication campaigns funded by the American Congress. A law passed in 1994 allowed for the release in 1995 of about thirty wolves captured in Canada to regulate the elk population. Almost all the individuals currently inhabiting the park descend from these 66 wolves imported between 1995 and 1996.
