Yellowstone wolves save aspen forests

The quaking aspen is a tree whose forests in Yellowstone National Park have significantly receded since the beginning of the 20th century. This decline was caused by elk that fed on young shoots and prevented their growth. A study from Oregon State University demonstrated that the reintroduction of the wolf stopped this phenomenon by regulating the population of these herbivores.
