A custom fur carpet for snow leopard cubs

The snow leopard is a large mountain cat whose female gives birth in a den lined with fur. To protect her cubs from the cold, she fills her rocky shelter with hair that she pulls from herself. A scientific observation conducted in Sichuan thus described such a mattress reaching 1.27 centimeters in thickness.
