The rejected doctoral thesis became the bible of astronautics

Die Rakete zu den Planetenräumen is a fundamental scientific work written by the physicist Hermann Oberth. Initially drafted as a doctoral thesis, this 92-page book was rejected by the University of Heidelberg in 1922 before being self-published in Munich and Berlin in 1923. This founding work sets out the basics of rocket propulsion and subsequently enjoyed resounding success.
