Phobos could have been placed in orbit in the 19th century

Phobos is the natural satellite of Mars which has sometimes been the subject of hypotheses regarding its artificial origin. Frank Salisbury thus suggested that it had been placed in orbit between 1862 and 1877. This unusual theory was based on the fact that the astronomer Heinrich Arrest had not spotted it during his observations in 1862.
