Paracetamol is lethal to cats

Paracetamol is an extremely toxic medication for cats, the ingestion of which in small quantities can prove fatal. This danger comes from the absence in the cat of the enzyme glucuronyl transferase, making daily doses as low as 10 mg per kilo toxic. The animal does not succumb to liver damage but to asphyxia, caused by the inability of its blood to transport oxygen.
