The clouded leopard could make a comeback in Taiwan

The clouded leopard is a feline whose Taiwanese population was declared extinct following camera trapping campaigns conducted from 2000 to 2004. Genetic analyses subsequently demonstrated that this population was not a distinct subspecies from continental specimens. Researchers are now considering reintroducing the animal to the island of Taiwan.
