The name of the bear was replaced by metaphors

The name of the bear was struck very early by a taboo out of respect for its symbolism and its function. This ancestral prohibition led to the use of numerous metaphors to designate it throughout the world. The Slavic terms mean for example the honey eater, while Latvian and Lithuanian qualify it as the licker.
