An ancient funerary monument reconstructed from scratch
The Sarcophagus of the Acceptii is an ancient funerary monument whose exact appearance remains questionable due to its destruction. Researchers Isidore Hedde and Auguste Allmer hypothesized in the 19th century that a flood of the Rhône had buried it, before proposing divergent reconstructions. André Steyert even suggested in 1895 another model inspired by similar monuments located in Algeria.
