The birth of samba rock thanks to Bill Haley

Samba rock is a dance born in São Paulo from an eclectic mix of different music and dance styles. Dancers gradually merged rock 'n' roll and samba movements into a single unique genre during lively parties. In 1957, the Brazilian pianist Waldir Calmon popularized this fusion by recording a samba version of Bill Haley's track, Rock Around the Clock.
