A Samaritan high priest served in the Palestinian parliament

The high priest of the Samaritans sat in the Palestinian Legislative Council from 1996 until his death in 2004. This assembly then reserved a single seat for the Samaritan community. This arrangement ended during the 2006 elections, as only the seats intended for Christians were kept.
