The dismissal of a coach triggers riots at the stadium

Gilbert Gress is the coach who led the Racing Club de Strasbourg to its first French championship title in 1979. He was dismissed in September 1980 following deep disagreements with the club president. This decision led to unprecedented riots at the Stade de la Meinau and marked the beginning of the team's sporting decline in the 1980s.
