True Detective is accused of philosophical plagiarism

The first season of True Detective is the subject of plagiarism accusations due to close similarities between its script and the 2010 book by Thomas Ligotti, The Conspiracy Against the Human Race. Nic Pizzolatto rejected these plagiarism accusations while publicly acknowledging the author's influence on his work. This controversy adds to the numerous philosophical and literary references identified by critics in the work.
