Hamburg waited until 1770 to sit at the Imperial Diet

Hamburg is an Imperial city whose membership in the imperial estates was long contested. Denmark opposed this status before accepting it in 1768 during the signing of the Treaty of Gottorp. The city was thus able to officially sit at the Imperial Diet starting from the year 1770.
