The official name of the Holy Roman Empire is a historical lie

The Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation never possessed an official name including this national suffix. The historian Hermann Weisert demonstrated in a study that official documents were thirty times more likely to omit this mention. This designation was nevertheless used from Frederick III before falling into disuse at the end of the 18th century.
