Gaudí wanted to surround the Sagrada Família with a star-shaped square

The architect Gaudí proposed to encompass the Sagrada Família in the center of an octagonal star-shaped square to provide sufficient distance from the monument. This design presented in 1905 as part of the Plan Jaussely was ultimately reduced to a four-pointed star due to the price of the land. None of these bold proposals were retained by the Barcelona city council during the final developments.
