Antoni Gaudí is buried in his crypt

The crypt of the Sagrada Família houses the grave of the architect Antoni Gaudí. This circular neo-Gothic space was damaged by a fire during the Spanish Civil War in 1936 before being restored in 1940 by the architect Francesc de Paula Quintana. The architect's remains rest precisely in the chapel of Our Lady of Mount Carmel amidst other chapels and tombs.
