The Sagrada Família lost its original plans in a fire

The Sagrada Família is a Barcelona basilica whose original plans were destroyed in 1936. Catalan anticlericals set fire to the majority of the architect's workshop, consuming the models, sketches, and notes essential to understanding his method. The architects tasked with resuming the construction site in 1944 therefore had to reinvent the procedure to remain faithful to the creator.
