Maffeo Barberini was very attached to his Caravaggio painting

The Sacrifice of Isaac is a painting by Caravaggio whose patron was Maffeo Barberini. The latter refused to give a copy of it in 1610 to the French ambassador Philippe de Béthune. He was so attached to this painting that he affectionately referred to it as his Abraham in an archival document.
