A memorial destroyed for its inscription
The memorial to the 674 victims of August 1914 in Dinant was inaugurated in 1936 on the Place d'Armes. In May 1940, the German occupier decided to blow it up during the Second World War. The pretext invoked was that its inscription entitled furore teutonico constituted an intolerable affront to Germany.
