The SA80 and its ergonomic paradoxes

The SA80 is a family of bullpup weapons whose architecture prevents left-handed people from using it and forces right-handed people to expose themselves more when turning right. Despite this ergonomics deemed mediocre and poorly positioned buttons, the alignment of the barrel and the stock provides excellent accuracy. Since its adoption, the rate of soldiers failing the annual shooting test has thus gone from 28 % to zero, while the proportion of experts has climbed from 8 % to 50 %.
