White hair to escape the Shah's harem

Mariam Dadiani is a Georgian queen dowager who avoided deportation to Iran thanks to a hair-related ruse. Fearing she would be sent to the harem of Shah Abbas II, she sent him a lock of her white hair to attest to her advanced age while appearing in public. The Persian sovereign then decided to marry her to Vakhtang V in February 1659 so that she could remain on her lands.
