A Georgian prince becomes the monarch of pleasures in Persia

Vakhtang V is a king of Kartli who became the heir to the throne after a series of suspicious deaths at court. During his stay in Persia to formalize his status with Shah Abbas II, he converted to Islam and adopted the name Shah Navaz Khan. This Persian name translates to monarch of pleasures or beloved of the shah, before he returned to Georgia to rule.
