Breton bagadoù once struck gold

The Kevrenn Brest Sant Mark is a musical ensemble that went through a period of Scottish inspiration in the 1950s. Between 1957 and 1960, under the direction of Herri Léon, the group adopted instruments from Scotland to the detriment of the traditional bombarde. This orientation however sparked sharp criticism from the Bodadeg ar Sonerion, which feared a loss of authenticity in the face of the pipe band model.
