A masterpiece by Caravaggio was found in a museum storage room

Bacchus is one of the most famous paintings by the Lombard painter Caravaggio. This major work almost disappeared from art history after being forgotten and nearly abandoned in the storage rooms of the Uffizi Gallery. It was rediscovered at the beginning of the 20th century thanks to the expertise of art historians Matteo Marangoni and Roberto Longhi.
