An Olympic qualification despite a ranking outside the top 500

Marino Cardelli is a skier who obtained his ticket for the Vancouver Olympic Games while he was ranked beyond the 500th place worldwide. The International Ski Federation allows this exception if the athlete does not exceed 140 points and participated in the 2009 World Championships. It is by respecting this condition in giant slalom that San Marino was able to send him to the competition.
