The surviving children of Fort Saint-Louis

Four surviving children from the French colony of Fort Saint-Louis were adopted by the Karankawas after the final attack of Christmas 1688. Found by De León, they were entrusted to the Viceroy of New Spain, the Count of Galve, to become his servants. Among them, the brothers Pierre and Jean-Baptiste Talon were later able to return to France and their testimony served in 1699 for an expedition by Iberville.
