A navigation error accidentally founds Fort Saint-Louis

Fort Saint-Louis is a French colony established in 1685 by the explorer René-Robert Cavelier de La Salle. Inaccurate maps and navigation errors led the ships more than six hundred kilometers west of the intended Mississippi, directly onto the coast of Texas. The adventure was short-lived and the colony was destroyed after only three years of existence.
