A giant glacier was born after the eruption of Mount Saint Helens

Crater Glacier is a glacier that appeared on the Mount Saint Helens volcano following an eruption. During the winter of 1980-1981, it began to grow at the impressive rate of 14 meters in thickness per year. In 2004, its surface area reached 0.93 km2 for a maximum thickness of 200 meters.
