American censorship turns two lovers into cousins

Sailor Moon is an animated series that underwent numerous modifications during its international broadcasts. The homosexuality of certain characters particularly stimulated censorship, pushing American studios to transform two women into simple cousins. Other modifications of the same type affected other protagonists, such as a cross-dressing man whose identity was changed to a woman.
