Voles destroy saffron crops

Saffron is threatened by numerous pests, but its worst enemy remains the vole. These rodents take advantage of the tunnels dug by moles to reach and devour the corms underground. Their voracity is such that an entire production can be completely wiped out, making curative interventions almost ineffective.
