The PlayStation owes its existence to a failure with Nintendo

The PlayStation is the first home console marketed by Sony Computer Entertainment. It was created in the early 1990s following the abandonment of a joint project with Nintendo for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. This turnaround pushed Ken Kutaragi to design an independent machine released on December 3, 1994 in Japan, which would eventually sell more than 100 million units.
