Empire currency displayed French Republic

Napoleon created the Empire to protect revolutionary values and avoid the collapse of order after the Consulate. The heredity of the title was thus intended to guarantee the stability of the country in the event of the leader's disappearance. This displayed republican will persisted on coins until 1808.
