Napoleon feigned scabies to refuse a mission in the Vendee

Napoleon Bonaparte simulated a skin disease to escape a military assignment. While he was offered to lead the repression in the Vendee, he refused because he preferred to turn towards Italy. To avoid being sent there by force, he presented a fake medical certificate attesting that he had scabies.
