Half of Parisian households consist of only one person

In Paris, more than half of households are occupied by a single person according to Insee data for the year 2008. This high proportion of inhabitants living alone is explained by the overrepresentation of students and young professionals in the capital. In total, nearly 590,122 individuals were living solo, representing approximately 28% of the Parisian population.
