Shakira was diagnosed with hyperactivity in childhood

Shakira is a Colombian singer who was diagnosed with hyperactivity during her childhood. It was following this diagnosis that she began to take an interest in dance to channel her energy, a Ritalin treatment having also been prescribed to her which she confides she still takes in adulthood. Born in 1977 in Barranquilla, she would compose her first song at the age of eight.
