A nationalization proposed to block an acquisition

Jean-Luc Mélenchon, a French politician, proposed to temporarily nationalize the publishing house Hachette. This measure aimed to prevent its acquisition by the Vivendi group belonging to the billionaire Vincent Bolloré. The objective of this proposal formulated on February 17, 2022 was to avoid the latter owning the two largest publishing groups in France.
