A record salary causes chaos at Zenit

In 2012, Axel Witsel is recruited by Zenit Saint Petersburg for nearly 40 million euros during a late transfer window. The amount of his salary immediately provokes the anger of captain Igor Denisov who refuses to accept it. This internal rebellion durably disrupts the team, which lets the championship title slip away to CSKA Moscow.
