The Ahwahnechee are a tribe of fierce renegades from Yosemite

The Ahwahnechee are a tribe settled in the Yosemite valley that was composed of particularly fierce renegades from other tribes. Their Miwok neighbors called them Yoṣṣe'meti, a term that means exactly those who kill. This population was finally defeated and massacred in 1852 after attacks led against gold miners.
