Final Fantasy VIII removes armor and accessories

The junction system of Final Fantasy VIII replaces the old equipment system with a single specialized weapon per character. Summoned creatures, called Guardian Forces, now serve to boost statistics and substitute for various traditional accessories. Each character can thus upgrade their unique weapon a limited number of times, much like Squall who starts with the Gunblade to eventually obtain the Lion Heart.
