The destruction of San Francisco by an unknown stone

The End of Illa is a story where a maid burns a mysterious manuscript and a purple stone in April 1905. Convinced that her master Doctor Akinson is sinking into madness, she destroys these objects discovered on an unknown island by the whaler Grampus. The combustion of this strange stone causes a huge explosion that razes a large part of the city of San Francisco.
