Alfonso Cuarón did not read the novel The Children of Men

The film The Children of Men is a cinematic adaptation of the eponymous novel by P.D. James. Its director Alfonso Cuarón nevertheless refused to read it in its entirety, settling for a simple summary to avoid too strong an influence from the book. His co-screenwriter Timothy J. Sexton read the entire work in 2001.
