The Fête des Merveilles was abolished due to its cost

The Fête des Merveilles is an ancient tradition in Lyon celebrating the miracles of the city's martyrs. It notably took place through songs while descending the Saône and prayers in the church of the Apostles. Faced with repeated criticisms regarding its financial cost, the council of Lyon put a definitive end to this event in 1394.
