The controversy surrounding Australia at the Lorient Festival

The Interceltic Festival of Lorient chose Australia as the guest country of honor for its 2016 edition. Patrick Malrieu, president of the Cultural Institute of Brittany, contested this decision by considering that the nation lacked legitimate Celtic artistic markers. The organizers nevertheless defended this choice by recalling that nearly half of the Australian population has Celtic roots.
