The Ferrandaise cow has made a comeback

The Ferrandaise is a cattle breed that almost disappeared completely during the twentieth century due to competition from other breeds and mechanization. Faced with the decline of their herds, a few breeders founded an association in 1977 to preserve this cow and its genetic diversity. Thanks to these conservation efforts, the numbers have risen to reach 3,998 females recorded in 2023.
