Mariah Carey's record label feared her duet with a rapper

Mariah Carey collaborated with rapper Ol' Dirty Bastard to create the Bad Boy remix of her song Fantasy. The record label Columbia hesitated to approve this project for fear that this association would harm the commercial success of the album. Journalist Ken Tucker of Entertainment Weekly nevertheless praised this bold choice by calling the singer a disco diva of the 1990s.
