Beatrix Potter wrote a book out of spite

The Flopsy Bunnies is a children's book published in July 1909 by Frederick Warne & Co. Beatrix Potter was growing tired of rabbit stories and did not want to write any more, but she returned to the characters upon noticing their immense success with children. The work draws inspiration from the garden of her aunt and uncle located in Wales to create the setting for this tale.
