A pony breed nearly extinct in India

The Zanskari is a mountain pony originating from the Ladakh region, in Northern India. Its population still numbered between 15,000 and 20,000 individuals in 1977 before falling sharply due to the increasing motorization of transport. This breed of Tibetan culture thus counted no more than a hundred pure representatives in 2012.
